WALKING CONCERNS, INCLUDING OUT OR IN-TOE WALKING
The most common foot problem ignored in children is flexible flat foot. This can be seen in combination with in-toeing or out-toeing as well. These children have an arch that collapses to the ground when they bear weight or walk. Their foot is unstable and often their ankle collapses in when they walk. Some accommodate for this problem by out-toeing. Often, the child will in-toe to try to stabilize their foot. These children have trouble running fast and may have trouble standing on their toes. They fatigue easily, possibly get future issues and are wearing out their shoes excessively.
At Right Path Podiatry we assess your child’s feet and gait to make sure that the correct diagnosis is made. We then focus on the best prevention and treatment plan which can include stretching, exercises, change of footwear and possibly orthotics if there is an underlying biomechanical cause.
